The “Last Great Malts” saw their grand unveiling in 2014 and John Dewar & Sons Fine Whisky Emporium has since been rolling out a portfolio of award winning malts, with the newest and most prestigious award given to Craigellachie 31, named World’s Best Single Malt by the World Whiskies Awards. The collection is a release of new expressions and never-before-released single malts.
Just in time for the Kentucky Derby, the Mint Julep is a cocktail worth betting on, especially as we lead into the spring and summer seasons. A cocktail said to have been born in the South at least 200 years ago, the combination of classic American whiskey, bright mint syrup, crushed ice and served in a glass fit for the job, is also a drink that’s easy to make at home, and very rewarding once finished.

Each year millions of people flock to food and beverage festivals and events around the world. Just about every major city in America has at least one annually, usually in peak season and often highlighting cultural dishes common to the area. Many of these festivals have traditionally featured wine, but more and more are popping up showcasing spirits, cocktails and craft beer.
Distilled spirits have been showing steady growth, particularly in the past six years, and according to the Distilled Spirits Council, supplier sales for spirits increased 4.1% in 2015.
