 India's capital market regulator curbs derivatives use

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has barred short options positions and ordered mutual funds to reduce their use of equity derivatives. The new rules go into effect Oct. 1.

The actual reduction requirements of derivatives exposure vary and are based on total net assets, maturity and offsetting positions.
