McCurtain indicator update for Mar. 9

Monday the Call/Put $Value Flow Line (CPFL) apparently rallied to a new intermediate-term high and its best levels since the March 2009 lows. Given the extent of the move, the amount of volume recorded by the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) in two options contracts, and the effect the move had on our CPFL statistics, we must confirm this action with the CBOE before we can accept the results as conclusive and not a “false positive.”

The options in question with big volume were the March 2010 440 Call that recorded a closing price of 81.50 on volume of 9156 and the June 2010 460 call at a close of 64 with volume of 9537. Those two options contracts on a Dollar Value basis constituted over 94% of Monday’s CPFL values. Without their collective input CPFL would not have reached a new high.

If the information is correct, then the new high in CPFL will be valid. If not, we will re-calibrate the CPFL after Tuesday’s closing prices are posted.

We are updating the daily chart of both the Call/Put Dollar Value Flow Line (CPFL) and Most Actives Advance/Decline Line (MAAD) indicators every day and providing the most recent raw data so you can begin to plot the indicators on your own (see below). Here is the link to the weekly  equity index indicator summary.
