February 2016: The Issue with Forecasting

In our February 2016 issue, we tackled the investment forecasting world. What we found is that all too often no one looks back and scores past forecasts. The headliners make it on CNBC — and are asked back — for their entertainment value, not necessarily the accuracy of their forecasts. However, we found that there was an effort to apply more stringent analysis to those offering predictions on the markets. The feature story provides readers with a good model for determining which forecasters are doing solid work and which ones are simply providing noise. 

In the same issue, we challenged the world of forecasters, we asked a team of analysts to provide their outlook for various sectors in 2016. The outlook is for the entire year so we will let you know how they did in January.
