Singapore Exchange to launch yen futures

Deutsche Boerse AG (DB1) stated that it has not conducted talks for the sale of International Securities Exchange (ISE), Bloomberg reported. According to DB1 CFO Gregor Pottmeyer, “all of this is just speculation and rumors…we did not open up a selling process or a concrete process with any bank.”

Singapore Exchange (SGX) plans to launch CNH and CNY futures, in addition to JPY and THB futures later this year, reported. According to SGX head of sales and clients, Chew Sutat, SGX is able to offer multi-asset central clearing and the ability to cross-margin products across different asset classes and within individual asset classes, making it an attractive option for dealers.

SGX aims to open a New York-based office, which will be the exchange group’s first US base and its latest new regional center. SGX is currently planning to hire staff for the new office and will open the center as soon as it has the right personnel, FOW reported.

London Stock Exchange: LCH.Clearnet hired Diane Bouwmeester as general counsel and head of compliance, the Financial News reported. Bouwmeester joins the clearing house from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where she was a senior associate in the firm’s financial service regulatory practice.

ASIC is seeking industry feedback regarding proposed changes to the reporting rules of OTC derivatives, Money Management reported. ASIC is recommending the amendment of derivatives transaction rules to reduce compliance costs and ensure derivative trade data is “complete and comprehensive.”

International Swaps and Derivatives Association Inc. (ISDA) reported that over-the-counter derivatives markets have continued to fragment since the implementation of the swap execution facility regime in the United States in October 2013, which resulted in a sharp increased in the volume of euro IRS between European dealers, Global Capital reported.

Commodity Futures Trading Commission lawyers are preparing to confront Brian Hunter, who oversaw the energy desk of hedge fund Amaranth when it collapsed in 2006, in a federal court in Manhattan on Oct. 6, Reuters reported. Hunter, who has been accused of attempted manipulation, has sought to dismiss the cases, and argued that the court has no jurisdiction and that CFTC has insufficient evidence against them.
