Clark Capital Management Group Introduces the Navigator Sentry Managed Volatility Fund, Enabling Advisors to Access Volatility in a 40 Act Fund Format

Philadelphia, PA — Clark Capital is pleased to introduce  a new mutual fund, designed to manage  volatility and risk — strategies that the firm has provided within a separately managed account (SMA) format for over 10 years. Clark Capital Management Group is an independent, employee-owned investment advisory firm that creates institutional-quality investment products designed to help financial advisors and RIAs in their efforts to grow their businesses and deliver successful investment outcomes to their clients.

The firm began to manage volatility as an asset class in 2003, believing this can provide a more consistent return stream for clients and keep clients invested in the markets during times of market and economic stress. The firm has continually made enhancements in an effort to increase the efficacy and cost control of the strategy. With the introduction of the Navigator® Sentry Managed Volatility Fund, clients will access the hedging strategy through a 40 Act Fund.

“Coming out of the bear market in the early 2000s, we recognized that traditional diversification, while essential for portfolio construction, had shortcomings. We introduced the Sentry strategy as a way to combat the negative effects of volatility by embracing it and letting it work for clients, not against them. The Navigator® Sentry Managed Volatility Fund is an enhancement to the Sentry strategy that we are very excited to make available to clients.” — K. Sean Clark, CFA, Chief Investment Officer

Clark cited the following potential benefits of the fund format:
  • A more efficient hedge for different market regimes, including bull and bear markets.
  • Access to an expanded universe of hedging vehicles including ETFs, options, structured notes and swaps.
  • Reduction of the overall hedge allocation in an equity portfolio by approximately one third. As a result, a higher percentage of assets can be invested in the long portion of a portfolio in an effort to reduce drag in up markets.
The Navigator® Sentry Managed Volatility Strategy is the hedging component of a hedged equity strategy, available through a full service business relationship with Clark Capital. It is also a component of Clark Capital’s hedged investment strategies available on several independent broker dealer platforms. For more information, contact Clarke at  advisorsupport@ccmg.com.
