T’was the run up before Christmas

The Last Energy Report Before Christmas.

T'was the last Energy Report before Christmas, and all through the pits,
The rise in the oil market was giving traders a fit.
Traders put on their positions with care,
Because with all of the fracking the supply would be there.

With rising production there was nothing to dread,
While visions of oil gluts danced in their heads.
Forget OPEC mischief because of the shale that we tapped
And we can start drilling all over the map.

When U.S. production records we soon will shatter,
Even oil exports won't seem to matter.
Yet the oil flew like a flash,
As it soared like an eagle refusing to crash.

It followed the Brent higher as tensions continue to grow,
And wind chills that may fall to 20 below.
When what to my wondering eyes did appear,
a rising stock-market without any fear.

Not even the taper could slow down this trick,
As the buyer keep buying with liquidity split.
More rapid than eagles the stock buyers they came,
And they gobbled up all of the stock market gains.

Buy Master Card, Buy Tesla! Buy GE and Apple,
Buy Facebook and Ford and the company that owns Snapple.
Drive all of the stocks to the top of the wall
And keep on buying because it seems that they never will fall.

Even the weak stocks continue to fly
As they overcome any obstacle and fly to the sky;
With all this momentum the stocks move on cue
And you better take profits before taxes are due.

Because in a twinkling, they could fall through the roof
And if you hold on too long you might feel like a goof!

Our soldiers are fighting in lands far away,
And we should remember to pray for them each passing day.
It is for freedom that they are putting up this incredible fight.
So to them and all of you, Merry Christmas and good night!
