CME Group announces trading challenge


CME Group's Trading Challenge is a complimentary four-week electronic trading competition where teams of undergraduate and graduate students can trade a variety of CME Group products from multiple asset classes in a simulated trading environment on a real-time professional trading platform provided by CQG.

Top ranking students will be eligible for cash prizes and exclusive CME Group experiences.

This competition is an annual event and the number of schools that participate has grown each year - with 179 schools from 26 countries and over 320 teams competing in 2013. The Trading Challenge is a unique chance for students to learn hands on techniques for trading futures. Teams must consist of 3-5 members and can register with a student leader or faculty advisor.


2014 Trading Challenge Registration Dates

  • Pre-registration (via Faculty Advisor) opens Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. CT

  • Registration for general student population opens Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. CT

  • Registration for the competition closes on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. CT

2014 Trading Challenge Competition Dates

Practice Round Monday, January 27 at 8:00 a.m. CT - Monday, February 3 at Market Close

Preliminary Round Tuesday, February 4 at 7:00 a.m. CT - Thursday, February 20 at Market Close

Final Round Sunday, February 23 at Market Open - Friday, March 7 at Market Close

Teams will use the CQG Integrated Client trading platform to execute trades on CME Globex. CQG will provide access to the technical analysis and trading software as well as training before the competition begins.
