New for Traders: ICE to acquire Singapore Mercantile Exchange

  • IntercontinentalExchange announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Singapore Mercantile Exchange in an all-cash transation.
  • IntercontinentalExchange has launched ICE Swap Trade, ICE's CFTC-registered Swap Execution Facility (SEF), with trading activity in many different products in the energy and credit default swap (CDS) markets.


  • CBOE Holdings, Inc. announced today that Chicago Board Options Exchange and CBOE Futures Exchange will launch trading on Russell 2000® Volatility Index options and futures.
  • The International Securities Exchange (ISE) announced that ISE Gemini has completed the rollout of 200 additional products. Following the expansion, ISE Gemini now lists all options classes included in the penny pilot and the most active non-penny pilot names.


  • Integral Development Corp. announced that it launched Integral SEF (ISEF,  offered through INFX SEF. This follows the decision by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission Division of Market Oversight to grant INFX SEF temporary registration as a swap execution facility.
  • Moscow Exchange and Eurex announced today that they have signed a cooperation agreement for the trading of foreign exchange (FX) derivatives. Through this new element of the partnership between Deutsche Börse and Moscow Exchange, Eurex Exchange will launch Euro/Russian Rouble and U.S. Dollar/Russian Rouble FX futures on its trading system in Q4 2013


  • Deutsche Börse Market Data introduced analytics based on raw, unpublished Xetra order book data, effective Nov. 25.
  • Interactive Data continues to make investments in extending the energy and commodities content available within FutureSource. As part of this ongoing effort, it has released these additions: Canadian EnerData, OPIS Commentary, Shanghai futures, KCBT/CBTspreads and calendar spread options.
  • OptionsCity Software announced that the company has completed conformance testing with CME Europe, a new London-based derivatives exchange. Upon the Sept. 29, 2013 launch date of the exchange, and pending regulatory approval, OptionsCity will provide its clients that are members of the exchange with direct access to CME Europe.


  • The Futures Industry Association, the Futures and Options Association and FIA Asia are pleased to announce the completion of the final bylaw changes needed to form FIA Global, the confederation of associations that will enhance their combined global voice and reach. Members of the FOA approved the proposed affiliation in July along with its name change to FIA Europe. This week FIA Asia and FIA announced the completion of the necessary changes to their bylaws, the final steps in the process for forming FIA Global.


  • IntercontinentalExchange announced it plans to spin-ff Euornext through an IPO by mid-2014, according to CEO Jeffrey Sprecher.
  • OpenGamma announced a new margining platform for clearing members to support the initial margin calculation requirements of central counterparties on OTC swap transactions.
  • HKEx aims to introduce after-hours trading of mini-HIS futures and mini-HHI futures, starting Jan. 6, 2014.
