Trading Places: Craig Donohue named OCC Executive Chairman

OCC announced that, effective Jan. 1, 2014, Craig S. Donohue will become its Executive Chairman, succeeding Wayne P. Luthringshausen, who will retire on Dec. 31, 2013. Mr. Luthringshausen has served as OCC’s Chairman since 1977.

Commodity Futures Trading Commission announced that Vincent A. McGonagle has been named the new Director of the Division of Market Oversight (DMO).  McGonagle has served at the Commission for nearly 16 years in various management capacities in the Division of Enforcement (DOE).

The Hong Kong Stock Exchange named industry veteran Garry Jones as the CEO of the London Metal Exchange, selecting a former top executive at the NYSE Liffe to help drive its expansion into commodities and beyond.

Tethys Petroleum announced the appointment of Stephen Elliott to the position of vice president project development. Elliot has been with the company since April 2009. In his new corporate role, Steve will now have overall responsibility for Tethys' operated projects at the project stage in all countries of focus.

R.J. O’Brien & Associates announced that Matthew Ardizzone, a 20-year veteran of the foreign exchange (FX) industry, has joined the firm as Global Head of FX Sales. Ardizzone is charged with growing the firm’s institutional FX presence, particularly among commodity trading advisors (CTAs), hedge funds and FX portfolio managers.

OCC announced that Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Wayne P. Luthringshausen will retire effective December 31, 2013. Pending regulatory approval, OCC will separate the roles of Chairman and CEO upon Luthringshausen’s retirement. After an extensive national search OCC’s Board of Directors has named Michael E. Cahill as CEO effective January 1, 2014.

Embium announced that Janice Robson has joined Embium as CEO. Her appointment brings critical strategy and sales expertise to facilitate Embium’s rapid growth.

Lightyear Capital LLC recently appointed Richard Korhammer, co-founder and former Chairman and CEO of Lava Trading Inc., as Senior Advisor.  Korhammer will draw upon his extensive background in financial technology to help identify and evaluate financial technology and capital markets investment opportunities for Lightyear
