New for Traders: ClearVest launches with eye to investors

Technology

  • A partnership of industry leaders in the investment consultancy and alternative asset sectors today announced the launch of an independent investment platform for investors and hedge fund managers. ClearVest offers a total portfolio solution with an intelligent interface between a diversified offering of alternative managers, world-class research, institutional quality infrastructure and leading edge technology
  • RJO Futures announced the release of its new trading platform, RJO Futures PRO. Featuring tools to trade and monitor the markets, traders can view market activity, place and track orders and positions via the order management system using features such as one-click trading from charts and trailing stop functionality.
  • OptionsCity Software announced the opening of a London office, the company’s third location and its first in Europe. The new office, located in the City of London, will service OptionsCity’s existing clients and growing customer base in the European region.

Regulations

  • The Futures Industry Association, the Futures and Options Association and FIA Asia are pleased to announce the completion of the final bylaw changes needed to form FIA Global, the confederation of associations that will enhance their combined global voice and reach. Members of the FOA approved the proposed affiliation in July along with its name change to FIA Europe. This week FIA Asia and FIA announced the completion of the necessary changes to their bylaws, the final steps in the process for forming FIA Global.

Options

  • The International Securities Exchange (ISE) and Moscow Exchange announced today that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), in which the two exchanges agreed to share information relating to various financial instruments traded through their respective facilities. This agreement expands on Moscow Exchange and Deutsche Börse Group's strategic partnership as ISE becomes the first U.S. options exchange to sign such an agreement.
  • The International Securities Exchange (ISE) announced that ISE GeminiTM, ISE's second options exchange, successfully completed its first day of trading on Aug. 5. ISE Gemini launched trading with six symbols -- Walt Disney Co. (DIS), NetApp Inc. (NTAP), Texas Instruments Inc. (TXN), Goldcorp Inc. (GG), NVIDIA Corp. (NVDA), and Dow Chemical Co. (DOW).
  • CME Group announced the launch of Short-Dated New Crop Options on KC Hard Red Winter (HRW) Wheat futures.

Financials

  • The Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Division of Market Oversight issued a letter advising the Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited (HKFE) that its CES China 120 Index futures contract and its HSI Volatility Index futures contract submitted for review on Aug. 2, 2013 are deemed certified
  • The Securities and Exchange Commission has authorized IntercontinentalExchange's acquisition of NYSE Euronext. The $8.2 billion deal still needs approval from individual European countries, but an early September closing is expected.

Commodities

  • CME Group Inc., the owner of the world’s largest futures market, applied to create a new kind of venue known as a swap execution facility that will initially focus on trading commodities derivatives.
  • GemShares, LLC and The NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. announced an agreement to develop the GemShares Global Investment Grade Standard (GIGS™) Diamond Basket Index. This transparent, rules-based index will provide a standardized pricing mechanism for valuing a diamond basket that could be used for the development of financial products.

Forex

  • Moscow Exchange and Eurex announced today that they have signed a cooperation agreement for the trading of foreign exchange (FX) derivatives. Through this new element of the partnership between Deutsche Börse and Moscow Exchange, Eurex Exchange will launch Euro/Russian Rouble and U.S. Dollar/Russian Rouble FX futures on its trading system in Q4 2013
  • CLS Group announced the opening of an office in Hong Kong, significantly expanding its Asia presence beyond its long-standing office in Japan.
