New for Traders: ISE launches Gemini exchange


  • The International Securities Exchange (ISE) announced that ISE GeminiTM, ISE's second options exchange, successfully completed its first day of trading on Aug. 5. ISE Gemini launched trading with six symbols -- Walt Disney Co. (DIS), NetApp Inc. (NTAP), Texas Instruments Inc. (TXN), Goldcorp Inc. (GG), NVIDIA Corp. (NVDA), and Dow Chemical Co. (DOW).
  • CME Group announced the launch of Short-Dated New Crop Options on KC Hard Red Winter (HRW) Wheat futures.
  • Eurex launched options on French government bond futures with effect from 10 September, the international derivatives market Eurex Exchange will launch options on futures that are based on notional long-term bonds issued by the French Republic with a notional coupon of 6 percent and a remaining maturity of 8.5 to 10.5 years.


  • In response to customer demand for solutions to address increasing complexity and volumes of corporate actions in Asia-Pacific, SunGard has expanded its XSP business to build a presence in Singapore.
  • Finect, a new social media site designed to meet the needs of the financial services industry, recently launched in a public beta. In addition to providing a secure platform for advisors and clients to communicate, Finect automatically backs-up all communications, ensuring everything stays in regulatory compliance. Individuals can create profile pages and then join various groups. Watch for the Futures Magazine Group to be launched soon.


  • Integral Development Corp announced that it has filed an application with the Commodity Futures and Trading Commission (CFTC) to launch a Swap Execution Facility (SEF) under the CFTC’s recently announced SEF rules issued pursuant to the Dodd-Frank Act.
  • CBOE Futures Exchange, LLC announced that the first phase of its previously announced plans to expand CBOE Volatility Index® (VIX® index) futures trading hours will begin in late September, with the second phase to begin in the weeks that follow.


  • The Futures and Options Association and the Futures Industry Association announced an agreement in principle to combine their two organizations under one global structure and brand called FIA Global.


  • The London Metal Exchange (LME) launched a consultation on a proposal designed to cut warehouse queues, and encourages responses from all interested parties. The proposal presented to the market today suggests a way to both cut existing queues and prevent new queues from forming.


  • CLS Group announced the opening of an office in Hong Kong, significantly expanding its Asia presence beyond its long-standing office in Japan.
  • MahiFX announced the launch of MetaTrader 4 (MT4) alongside its award-winning trading platform line-up. FX traders can now choose to access MahiFX’s tight pricing on the proprietary platform or via MahiFX MT4.
