Trading Places: Judd Gregg named SIFMA CEO

SIFMA appointed Judd Gregg, a previous Republican senator, as CEO. Gregg was formerly a governor of New Hampshire and had retired from the US Senate last year.

OptionsCity Software announced that Timo Pentner has joined the company as Executive Vice President of Services. Pentner will oversee all support, onboarding, and training operations in the U.S. and Europe.

Marex Spectron appointed Roger Quek as executive vice-president for its commodities energy desk; Arne Petter Kolderup as the head of the Asian coal derivatives desk; and Akshay Mehta as a physical coal broker.

FIA appointed Jacqueline Hamra Mesa to assist in developing, implementing and managing its global regulatory and policy agenda from June 10. Mesa previously worked at CFTC where she served as a director of office of international affairs since February 2006.

Horizon Cash Management announced that Michael Markowitz has been named president, effective April 24, and continues as chief investment officer. Markowitz replaces Pauline Modjeski, who served as president since 2008.

SEC appointed Keith Higgins, a securities lawyer at Boston-based law firm Ropes & Gray, to head SEC’s Division of Corporate Finance.  Higgins has been involved in more than 50 IPOs, and has focused on M&As, compliance and corporate governance. Higgins has also previously head the American Bar Association’s committee on federal securities regulation.

ConceptONE announced that Cary I. Goldstein has joined the firm as managing director and head of business development. Goldstein brings 17 years of industry experience and extensive knowledge of the alternative investment industry, with a particular focus on technology, infrastructure and regulatory reporting.

Liquidnet appointed Julien Fougere as head of trading coverage, EMEA, and he will be responsible for developing Liquidnet’s buy-side institutional member relationships. Liquidnet also appointed Stuart Thomspon as execution trader, who will work with the platform’s clients through its trading desk, focusing especially on Liquidnet’s algo suite.

LSE hired Brian Schwieger as equities head. Schwieger was most recently from Bank of America’s Merrill Lynch unit, and previously also worked with Morgan Stanley.

OCC announced that Felix B. Davidson (President, TD Ameritrade Clearing), Raymond J. Di Sanza (Senior Vice President of Operational Services for Charles Schwab & Co., Inc.) and Craig C. Messinger (Executive Vice President and Head of Trading and Trading Risk at The Bank of New York Mellon) were elected to its Board of Directors.
