ConvergEx appointed Joseph N Cangemi as CEO of the UK-based broker dealer ConvergEx Ltd. Cangemi was formerly head of electronic equity trading and sales, the Trade News reported.

The Securities and Exchange Commission announced that Anne K. Small has been named General Counsel of the agency. Small comes to the SEC from the White House Counsel’s Office where she has been serving as Special Assistant to the President and Associate Counsel to the President since October 2011.
BATS Chi-X Europe appointed David Howson as COO, reporting to CEO Mark Hemsley. Howson was most recently one of the founders and the CTO of rival platform Equiduct, and prior to that was solutions architect and principal consultant at Reuters Consulting, where he implemented and integrated a pan-European equities trading platform for Nasdaq Europe.
BM&F appointed former Brazilian senior government official Pedro Parente as chairman, replacing Armino Fraga Neto. Parente was previously a chief of staff in former Brazilian President Fernando Henrique Cardoso’s government.
Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) appointed Mohammad Al Muhairi to head the Clearing, Settlement and Depository (CSD) department. Al Muhairi has gathered 13 years of experience in the financial sector while working at ADX.
SGX appointed Jenny Chiam as senior vice president of head of securities starting July 1, replacing Nels Friets, who will continue with SGX in an advisory role until September.
Aquis Exchange appointed Mark Spanbroek as non-executive director. The exchange is currently waiting for approval from the Financial Conduct Authority to launch as an MTF, which will operate on a subscription basis and aims to attract high-volume participants.
Markit announced it has strengthened its Markit Securities Finance business with the appointment of Edward Marhefka as managing director and co-head of Markit Securities Finance working alongside David Carruthers.
