When it comes to politics, think of me as Bob Dylan, I’m not political anymore but not afraid to speak my mind. Dylan wrote very controversial songs that touched a nerve in what he saw wrong in the country. The media tried to goad him into discussions on politics and he never bit the forbidden fruit. So I’m just the guy to tell you the Vice Presidential debate was a disaster as it represented the disrespect each side has for the other in this campaign season. Everyone says their guy won but the real loser is the country where we seek style over substance and the style left a lot to be desired. But the bigger problem isn’t the politicians, people really feel this way about each other. If you doubt that, follow some of the Twitter feeds on trending political topics.
You could tell that each candidate was looking for their Lloyd Bentsen moment when Biden made the Jack Kennedy reference when Ryan talked about lowering taxes. Truth be told, Kennedy represented a lot of the same principles as Ronald Reagan and did lower taxes. But a reference to the good book would be in order, “The quiet words of a wise person are better than the shouts of a foolish king.” This sentiment pretty much sums up the feeling among people from both sides but mostly from people who have no loyalty to the MSNBC or FOX crowd who will still decide this election.
Tying this all together we have an election so close nobody can anticipate the outcome even 3 weeks out and looking at the market we have no confirmation of the top either which could bring about the biggest upset in the history of Presidential politics. But I think if the market continues to drop Romney is going to win.
