Trading Places: Mahajan heads up Allston Trading

Raj Mahajan was named CEO of Allston Trading, replacing Carlton Jones, who is now the firm’s chairman and president. Mahajan most recently was president of global trading at SunGard Data Systems Inc. He also will join Allston’s board.

Andrew Bowden was named deputy director of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations (OCIE). Bowden joined the agency in November 2011 as the national associate director for OCIE’s Investment Adviser/Investment Company Examination Program.

Jerald David was appointed chief business development officer of OptionsCity Software. David previously was managing director and chief administrative officer of environmental commodities exchange GreenX. He also was a director or member of the management team at CME Group, New York Mercantile Exchange and Dubai Mercantile Exchange.

Don Steinbrugge, chairman of Agecroft Partners, was named to the Hedge Fund Association’s (HFA) board of directors. HFA also appointed Joel Schwab, managing director of Hedge Fund Research, as its Midwest chapter director and Kislay Shah of McGladrey as director of its Connecticut chapter.

Jim Gabriele joined R.J. O’Brien & Associates as executive vice president and chief financial officer of the firm’s holding company, RJO Holdings Corp. Gabriele previously was a management consultant with Barrington Partners. He also spent two years as managing director at Butterfield Fulcrum.

Leslie Richman and Duncan Crawford are now co-global heads of Newedge’s Alternative Investment Solutions (AIS) Group. Richman, based in Chicago, has led AIS in the U.S. for nearly 20 years; Crawford, based in London, has run Capital Introductions globally for 12 years.

James Skeggs and Ryan Duncan will co-run Newedge’s AIS Advisory Group globally. Skeggs previously was head of research, EMEA. Ryan previously served as head of research, Americas.

Hamed Ali was appointed the acting CEO of Nasdaq Dubai. Ali joined the company earlier this month as chief operating officer. He previously was the exchange’s executive officer (2006-2008), and also served as COO of the Dubai International Finance Centre Authority.

Lawrence Latimer joined R.J. O’Brien & Associates (RJO) as senior vice president, Institutional Brokerage. Latimer has 25 years of experience in institutional futures and options brokerage, most recently as a director at Credit Suisse.
