Futures veterans challenge industry to restore trust

Futures industry veterans James Oliff and Neal Wolkoff wrote in a New York Times op ed piece that "The erosion of the public’s trust in how the futures and derivatives markets work is more extreme than at any time in our long careers."

Oliff and Wolkoff say there is "an immediate need to restore public confidence in the safety of customer funds," and note that things can be made much better. They propsed improving ethics education, strengthening the regulatory system and encouraging long-term thinking and  investment, as immediate changes that would have a long-term benefits.
