Trading Places: Mark Sachs signs on at R.J. O’Brien

Key personnel moves in the industry

Mark SachsMark Sachs was hired at R.J. O’Brien & Associates as executive vice president, sales & marketing. Sachs has more than 26 years of futures experience and most recently served as president at Lind-Waldock. “RJO is extremely well respected in the industry and enjoys a hard-earned reputation for outstanding client service.  I’m very excited to play a role in the continued growth of this terrific firm with such a strong heritage and quality management team,” Sachs said in a statement.

David Gonski, chairman at ASX, was appointed chairman of the Australian government’s sovereign wealth fund, replacing the retiring David Murray. The Future Fund has more than AUD 90b in assets under management and Gonski will be chairman for a five-year term starting April 30.

Rob Banus was appointed customer relations head at Dubai Mercantile Exchange. Banus was previously head of futures for Asia Pacific at Barclays Capital, where he had worked from 1994 to 2010, and most recently was a senior advisor to SGX’s commodities trading division.

Marc Lorin was named deputy head of AIS Origination and Structuring for Americas at Newedge. Lorin has been a part of the US Origination and Structuring team since 2010, and has worked for Newedge and its predecessors in various capacities since joining Fimat USA as an account executive in 1990.

Paul Tucker, BOE deputy governor, was appointed to be the Chairman of the Committee on Payment and Settlement Systems (CPSS), a global rulemaking body for securities clearing.

Leland Goss was named general counsel at the International Capital Market Association. Goss previously was managing director, deputy general counsel and head of the investment banking legal group, EMEA, at Credit Suisse in London where he worked for over 20 years.

Will Rhode was promoted to director of fixed income at TABB Group. Rhode joined TABB in March 2010, bringing 14 years’ experience as a financial journalist specializing in the risk management and derivatives industry.

Steven Schneider was named chief administrative officer at Campbell & Company effective April 2. Most recently, Schneider was chief financial officer for Ironwood Global in New York.
