China cracking down on illegal exchanges: Report

Chinese financial wire service Caixin is reporting that the Chinese central financial regulatory authority is ordering local governments to closely monitor, and possibly shut down, unauthorized futures exchanges.

The traditional and electronic exchanges trade everything from wine to commodity derivatives. Reportedly, throughout the country China has 300 such futures exchanges, and many are lightly regulated, if at all.
