Langford to head UBS energy investment banking

UBS today announced the appointment of Thomas Langford as Global Head of Energy Investment Banking, based in Houston.

Langford joins UBS from Morgan Stanley, where he spent 17 years as an investment banker covering the energy industry, most recently serving as global head of the firm’s energy group. During his tenure at Morgan Stanley, Langford worked in New York, Asia, and Houston. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Langford served as a consultant with McKinsey and Company focused on energy firms. Prior to that, he worked as a production engineer at Exxon Mobile.

Commenting on the appointment, Carsten Kengeter, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of UBS Investment Bank, said: “The energy sector is dynamic, and with an increasing volume of deal activity, it is one of the most significant opportunities for our global investment banking business. Tom brings exceptional ability and deep experience, and we are delighted that he will lead our energy banking efforts on a global basis. Given his location in Houston, Texas, we are equally pleased to demonstrate continued investment in our senior team in the US. The Americas region is of critical importance to our global business.”
