Broker-dealer launches futures trading desk

EW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BTIG, LLC, a broker dealer specializing in institutional trading and related brokerage services, today announced it has launched a Global Futures Trading Desk, led by Robert Gagnon, who joins as Head of Futures Sales and Trading. The Global Futures Trading Desk will include new hires Suraj Raythatha and Allison Carley.

BTIG’s Global Futures Trading Desk provides customizable, real time solutions that align with institutional client demand for discreet execution and unique post-trade requirements. This includes specialty markets such as the London Metals Exchange (LME) and the energy complex, both listed products and OTC.

“Of the 1,800 institutional clients that trade with us, many are very active in the futures market,” said Steven Starker, Co-Founder of BTIG. “We are here to serve our clients’ needs with high-touch service – if futures is an area where they need attention and focus, we want to provide that service. As portfolio managers become more sophisticated and attentive to risk and risk management, tools like the use of futures will likely continue to rise.”

Prior to joining BTIG, Gagnon was at RBC Capital Markets, where he was Director of Sales for Futures and Commodities. Over a 20-year career working in Canada, Asia and New York, Gagnon has managed businesses in FX, e-FX and futures at the Bank of Montreal, State Street Bank and Morgan Stanley.
