SEC: More derivatives disclosure needed

The securities industry regulator says in a letter to a mutual fund trade group that mutual funds need to disclose more about their use of derivatives.

According to the July 30 letter to the Investment Company Institute, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) indicates it is concerned shareholders of mutual funds are not aware of the extent of derivatives use in the industry and don't understand the risks involved.
