Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) is introducing a bill that would require nearly all OTC derivative contracts to trade on centralized exchanges. Lincoln is the chairwoman of the Senate Agriculture Committee.
The Agriculture Committee was assigned the task of addressing OTC regulation after the larger financial overhaul bill was passed by the Senate Banking Committee last month.
If passed, the bill would mark a resolution in the high-stakes game that has been the focus of major lobbying efforts by Wall Street firms since the unraveling of the credit market in 2008.
