High expectations for 2010 volumes amid regulatory unknowns

Many futures industry leaders expect exchange-traded derivatives, and the exchanges that list them, to benefit from new regulations governing the financial industry next year. However, there is little agreement on exactly what those regulations will look like.

According to a report by Reuters, three that raise the most questions are plans to limit bank proprietary trading; an impending study on high-frequency trading; and potential energy market position limits.
