S&Ps get whacked overnight

The CME Group trading halts on the E-mini S&P 500 were hit in overnight trading causing the index to suspend trading on Globex at about 3:50 am central time. The index did not trade above that limit, 855.25, from 4:30 am until the morning session opened at 8:30 am. The overnight limit for the fourth quarter is 5% or 60 points. The limit for the regular session is 120 points and would kick in if the S&P futures hit 795.25. The index has rebounded somewhat in early morning trading.

The E-mini Nasdaq 100 also hit its preset limits.
