Bailout bill dies - DJIA reeling

The $700 billion bailout plan has been voted down by the U.S. House of Representatives. According to CNBC, the house rejected the bill by a vote of 228-205.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which was down by 350 points shortly after this morning’s opening, extended those losses on the news. The Dow was down as much as 700 points on the day (to 10438.01 at 1:47 p.m. eastern time) following the rejection of the bailout and has been extremely volatile since.
