The Chicago Board Options Exchange began publishing the CBOE S&P 500 VARB-X Strategy Benchmark (VTY) in March. The index tracks the performance of a hypothetical volatility arbitrage trading strategy designed to capitalize on the historical difference between S&P 500 Index (SPX) option implied volatility and the realized, or historical, volatility. www.cboe.com/VARBX. The CBOE will also launch cash-settled Credit Default Options on its Hybrid Trading System in the second quarter. The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) will begin trading Credit Index Event contracts in May.
