The period following a merger announcement and its closing is always a nervous one as decisions are made regarding what management positions will remain and who will leave as part of the efficiencies gained from the merger. CME and CBOT officials, who reported their merger is on track to close in mid-2007 and are confident that the Department of Justice would not challenge the merger on antitrust grounds, announced their post merger management team in January.
The merged entity, CME Group, will be led by CME executive chairman Terrence A. Duffy. Charles P. Carey, currently CBOT chairman, will be vice chairman; CME Chief Executive Officer Craig Donohue will be CEO; CBOT CEO Bernard W. Dan will serve as special advisor to the CME Group for one year; CME President and COO Phupinder Gill, will serve as president; CME Managing Director Maz Chadid will be managing director of operations; Bryan Durkin, CBOT executive vice president and chief operating officer will be chief operating officer.
