Several exchanges and technology vendors offer educational opportunities for traders to learn and hone electronic trading skills. The CME offers free access to the Globex Learning Center to industry professionals. The center is designed to allow traders to practice simulated electronic trading of both CME and Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) contracts in a real-time environment, using state of the art technology, including current releases of many trading front end systems.
“We have a number of different vendors. You can try them for an hour, or you can try them for a week,” says DeBorah Lenchard, associate director of market education. In addition, you can print out a profit and loss statement to track your progress or to show a potential employer the results of your trading strategies. The CME makes a number of educational classes available at the center and online, and in June, the exchange will offer Electronic Trading 101, an online series of courses that will include online trading simulation.
