Brown-Hruska leaves CFTC for consultant

Sharon Brown-Hruska has left her post as a commissioner at the Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to join NERA Economic Consulting’s securities and finance practice. Brown-Hruska served as acting chairman of the CFTC during her most recent stint and previously served as an economist at the agency. She also was a research fellow at George Mason University’s Mercatus Center. “The futures industry has been my life. I like the nuts and bolts of this business,” Brown-Hruska says. She adds that NERA presents her with an opportunity to leverage her legal, economic and industry knowledge. “This [job] will let me do that and still work with the same great people.”

Douglas R. Barnard is now chief financial officer (CFO) for Cantor Fitzgerald L.P. He was previously chief administrative officer for Dover Management LLC.

The Intercontinental Exchange Inc. has named Dee Blake director of regulation in London. Previously she was a technical specialist in the markets policy area of the U.K. Financial Services Authority.

Gary DeWeese was named chief compliance officer and CFO for Last Atlantis Capital Management LLC.

The Options Clearing Corporation elected Frank J. Larocca treasurer. This follows his recent promotion to SVP and CFO.

Joanna Barron was named head of screen based trading for Fortis Merchant Banking, Asia Pacific. She previously worked for CQG.
